Ryan Reynolds is continuing to hilariously put the kibosh on those pesky breakup rumors with a killer mom joke.
The Deadpool star attended the New York City premiere of A Quiet Place on Monday night, making the event a family affair with his mom, Tammy, and his wife of five years, Blake Lively.
Further shutting down rumors that his marriage is on the rocks, Reynolds later joked on Twitter that they’re “never splitting” — only he was actually referring to his mother.
“We’re never splitting,” quipped the 41-year-old actor on Tuesday. “She’ll always be my mom. No matter how much jazz-cabbage she smokes with her rollerblading friends.”
This is the second time in less than a week that Reynolds has used humor to address any remote possibility of a split with Lively, 30.
After news broke over the weekend that their marriage was reportedly on shaky ground because they’re too busy to spend “quality time” together, the movie star kept his response lighthearted.
“I wish,” he joked. “I could use a little ‘me time.'”
Over the summer, Lively expressed that the two try to avoid working at the same time so they can be available for their daughters, 3-year-old James and 1-year-old Ines.
“We don’t work at the same time,” the former Gossip Girl star told Glamour. “We’re here as a family, then we’ll pack up, and I’ll go do a couple movies.”
She added that family comes first for the couple.
“I admire people who find that what fulfills them is their art or their work, but what fulfills both me and my husband is our family,” she noted. “Knowing that, everything else comes second. We’ve each given up stuff we loved in order to not work at the same time. I’m fortunate to be in a place now where I get to find the material — a book or script — early and develop it. So I know ahead of time that I’m going to be working on this job at this time. And we can plan around it.”
