The cast and crew have been informed about the decision not to move forward with the project in that chain.
The Game of Thrones prequel, starring Naomi Watts, was discharged by HBO, Variety confirmed. The channel decided not to move forward with the project. The channel has more GOT on its way, but the prequel written by Jane Goldman will not be a reality.
In Deadline, they explain that Goldman, who was going to act as showrunner, sent an email to the cast and crew to inform them that the pilot was not approved.
In addition to Watts, the first episode featured Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Toby Regbo, Miranda Richardson, Marquis Rodriquez, John Simm, and Richard McCabe.
Goldman co-created the project with George R.R. Martin, whose series of novels “A song of ice and fire” served as the basis for a successful series that ended this year after eight seasons.
Although this information is not yet confirmed by HBO, there were rumors of problems during filming in Northern Ireland and a long post-production process.
Another project that would still be alive is another prequel, located 300 years before the events of the main series, and that would focus on the beginning of the end of the Targaryen House.
Game of Thrones eighth season divide the fans, many of whom criticized the direction the show took in its final episodes. However, the fiction won 12 Emmy awards for the final season, including the Best Drama award.
