JK Rowling, the creator of the magical world of Harry Potter reappeared in her social networks where she shared a post that generated great controversy among users, who accused her of issuing transphobic comments.
The Harry Potter writer caused a strong repudiation by supporting Maya Forstater, a researcher who was fired for tweeting that transgender women cannot change their biological sex.
On her Twitter account, JK Rowling wrote :
Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) December 19, 2019
”Immediately, her followers felt disillusioned by the position of the writer and criticized her for describing her as “TERF”, that is to say, feminist radical exclusionary trans. In fact, some followers expressed that they have trans children who admired her so that “it breaks my heart to see you publish something that indicates that discrimination against her is a perfectly good behavior,” said one user.
