The South Bronx, New York – After decades of public service, Congressman Jose Serrano announced he will no longer run for office due to his development of Parkinson’s Disease. He’s vacancy leaves one of the most sort after Congressional Districts, with over a dozen candidates competing for the position. But of all the candidates, Julio Pabon actually lives in the district, and understands very well the issues that affect the community.
Julio Pabon, who has lived in District 15 of The Bronx for many years, says he has seen the evolution of he’s neighborhoods. While there has been some developments in housing, many are too expensive for residents that live in The Bronx and there is no inceptives for home ownership, something he hopes to change if elected. “I think they’re missing the boat when they’re not creating housing that is affordable for residents of The Bronx, it’s even worst when there’s a lack of inceptives to stimulate homeownership which is the path to creating generational worth for the poorest communities in the Country”.
He sees various topics of pressing importance, but says fighting for his community and ensuring it gets the attention it needs is the same as defending his own home. “I live, breathe and walk these streets” says Julio Pabon, “making the South Bronx a better place is making it a better place for my neighbors, their children, my community and in the end it will be a better place for me and my family”.
