Puerto Rico – After a very controversial beginning, the State Elections Commission (CEE) began to publish official results of the contest a few minutes after the closing of the polling stations. The initial primary elections where interrupted due to insufficient ballots, then left a controversial dilemma of whether the original votes would be counted and included in the final results. A dilemma that brought two of the leading candidates for the gubernatorial position submitting lawsuits to ensure that every vote was considered. After much attention from social media, the Supreme Court unanimously decided that the votes originally submitted will be counted.
In the case of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), Carlos Delgado Altieri has the lead, with 61,317 ( 63. 80%), followed by Eduardo Bhatia with 21,973 ( 22.86%). Carmen Yulín Cruz was in third place with 12,822 votes ( 13.34%). These results correspond to 906 of 2,133 schools reported, for 42.48%.
For the New Progressive Party (PNP), Pedro Pierluisi has 93,745 votes ( 58.40%), followed by Wanda Vázquez Garced with 66,770 ( 41.60% ). These results correspond to 2,560 out of 4,120 schools reported, for 62.14%.
Regarding the contest of representatives by accumulation, José “Pichy” Torres Zamora maintains the lead with 105,996 votes, followed by José Enrique “Quiquito” Meléndez with 101,974 , José Aponte with 84,507, Néstor Alonso with 77,388 , Lourdes Ramos with 77,312 and Jorge Emmanuel Báez with 68,824 .
Representative María “Milagros” Charbonier is in last place, with 48,131 votes.
In the Senate by accumulation, William Villafañe is in first place with 99,668 votes. Gregorio Matías follows with 94,397 ; Keren Riquelme with 91,815 ; Itzamar Peña with 85,662; Thomas Rivera Schatz with 84,916 ; and Carlos Rodríguez Mateo with 77,607 .
In the contest of representatives by accumulation in the PPD, Héctor Ferrer dominates with 71,797 votes, followed by Jesús Manuel Ortiz with 62,643 ; Keyliz Méndez with 45,844 ; Yaramary Torres with 43,498 ; Gabriel López Arrieta with 36,139 and Enid Monge with 34,968 .
In the Senate, José Luis Dalmau has 72,591 votes, Aníbal José Torres has 66,904 ; Brenda López de Arrarás has 60,177 ; Luis Vega Ramos has 58,639 ; Juan Zaragoza has 40,936 and Ada Álvarez has 38,672 .
