Elon Musk has regained the title of the richest person in the world, according to Bloomberg’s latest calculations.
Previously dethroned by Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, in December of last year, Musk held the second position for over two months. However, as of Monday, Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index indicates that a rise in Tesla’s stock price has propelled Musk back to the top spot.
As of Monday’s market close, Musk’s net worth was approximately $187.1 billion, edging out Bernard Arnault’s fortune of $185.3 billion, Bloomberg reported.
Despite Tesla’s stock decline in the previous year due to challenges surrounding Musk’s acquisition of Twitter and broader tech market fluctuations, the company’s shares have seen a significant rebound in 2023.
While Elon Musk currently holds the title of the richest person in the world, he also set a record for the largest single-person wealth loss in history. Towards the end of last year, Musk became the first individual ever to see his wealth plummet by $200 billion, with his net worth dropping from around $340 billion in November 2021 to $137 billion by December 2022.
