An incident during the filming of the upcoming sequel to the 2000 Oscar-winning film “Gladiator” resulted in injuries to several members of the production team.
Paramount Pictures spokesperson informed CNN that during a planned stunt sequence on the set of the Gladiator sequel, an accident occurred causing non-life-threatening injuries to multiple crew members. Immediate medical attention was provided by on-site medical teams, and all individuals affected are currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.
Variety, the first to report the incident, specified that six people received treatment for burn injuries following the accident, which occurred at the film’s location in Morocco.
Paramount emphasized their commitment to the safety and well-being of the cast and crew, highlighting stringent health and safety protocols across all their productions. They pledged to closely monitor the situation and implement necessary precautions as filming resumes.
Directed by Ridley Scott, who also directed the original film, the Gladiator sequel features returning stars Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi, alongside newcomers Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Joseph Quinn from “Stranger Things 4.”
The film is scheduled for release in November 2024.
