WhatsApp has introduced a new feature allowing users to capture and send video messages directly within the messaging app, Meta-owned platform announced recently. These instant video messages can be up to 60 seconds long and benefit from the app’s robust end-to-end encryption service.
According to a blog post from the company, these video messages are intended to be a lively way to share emotional moments such as birthday wishes, laughter over jokes, or sharing good news. Similar to sending voice messages, users will also have the option to record videos hands-free.
Meta’s stock has seen an 11% increase in revenue growth, following a better-than-expected earnings report. The company reported a 11% year-over-year surge in revenue to $32 billion for the quarter ending in June, highlighting the success of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s “year of efficiency” strategy. This latest update from WhatsApp follows a previous enhancement that allows users to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending, demonstrating Meta’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience across its platforms.
