Driving the all-electric Jaguar I-Pace is brilliant in every way but one

Jaguar Land Rover’s first all-electric vehicle, the sporty looking 2019 Jaguar I-Pace crossover sport utility, is trickling into the United States with the first confirmed delivery this month. The vehicle, which the company confirmed Tuesday has a range of 234 miles, aims to compete with Tesla’s larger Model X SUV. It’s a worthy first effort, and one that establishes Jaguar’s place in the rather empty global quiver of electric vehicles. And it shows that Tesla is not the only automaker that can produce an electric vehicle that’s fun to drive. In short, the vehicle offers a solid, quiet ride, handling curves with ease. And it stands out in a crowd. The user interface in the vehicle’s infotainment system, however, falls short.

Starting at $69,500, the all-electric I-Pace runs from naught to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, with 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque going to all four wheels. But that’s not what’s important here
