Until Wednesday, former President George HW Bush will be present in the Capitol Rotunda, where he was taken Monday from Houston on a special flight of Air Force Onenamed Special Mission 41, in honor of the president number 41 of the US.
During this Tuesday the public has paid tribute to Bush Sr.. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump came to the end of Monday afternoon to pay their respects, a few hours after the leaders of the Congress in the presence of the Bush family offered words of praise to the deceased president.
On Wednesday, declared by Trump as National Day of Grief, the coffin will be taken to the National Cathedral in Washington DC for his state funeral. In the end, Air Force On will take him back to Houston for a second local funeral and be buried on Thursday on the grounds of the Bush Library.
This is the schedule of the activities scheduled for the rest of the week:
Wednesday, December 5:
- 8:45 am: Closing of public access to the Rotunda and preparation of the transfer to the National Cathedral.
- 11:00 am: Funeral ceremony at the National Cathedral in Washington DC with the presidency of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, former presidents and other dignitaries, diplomats and special guests.
- 12:30 pm: Departure from the Cathedral en route to Andrews Air Base, in Maryland, from where it will depart en route to Texas.
- 4:30 pm: Arrival at Ellington Field, Houston, Texas.
- 5:45 pm: Arrival at the St. Martin Episcopal Church.
- 6:45 pm: Ceremony of the present body.
Thursday December 6:
- 11:00 am: Funeral service at St. Martin Episcopal Church
- 12:15 a.m.: Exit ceremony of Bush’s remains.
- 1:30 pm: Ceremony at Union Pacific Railroad facilities
- 4:45 pm: Arrival of the convoy to the University of Texas A & M
- 5:15 pm: Arrival at the Presidential Library and Bush Museum and funeral ceremony
The first guests to the National Cathedral begin to arrive
At 11:00 am ET will begin at the National Cathedral in Washington DC the funeral ceremony to dismiss former President George HW Bush after his body was in the Rotunda of the Capitol so that citizens could pay a final tribute.
The ceremony at the cathedral will be attended by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, as well as other presidents.
It is expected that Prince Charles of England will also attend; the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel; Jordanian King Abdullah II and Queen Rania; the Polish president, Andrzej Duda, accompanied by Lech Walesa, as well as several other foreign dignitaries.
The images show that some of the guests are already inside the religious center waiting for the ceremony to begin.
