The United States Actors’ Union rewarded the most outstanding film and television performances. “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was the winner as the best cast comedy series.
In full swing of the awards season, the United States Actors Guild presented the Statue Actors Guild Awards to the best film and television performances of the year at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Parasite won the best cast award, becoming the first non-English-speaking film to keep the statuette. The black Korean film comedy, directed by Bong Joon-ho, which refers to the class struggle, became a phenomenon of criticism and public. The script shows the confrontation between a poor and a rich family, with unsuspected derivations. He received six nominations for the Oscar Award: best international film, direction, original screenplay, editing, production design and best film.
For his part, the award for best actress was Renée Zellweger, for his work in Judy. In the men’s category there were no surprises: the statuette was taken by Joaquin Phoenix, protagonist of Joker.
The statuette for the best supporting actress went to Laura Dern, for Marriage Story. As in the Golden Globes, Brad Pitt took the prize in the men’s category, for his work in Once upon a time in Hollywood.
In the television categories, the awards for best actor and actress went to two performers of the Fosse / Verdon series: Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams.
