Puerto Rico Police Silence Protest Against Coronavirus Testing Corruption

Puerto Rico – On Wednesday, April 22nd, a group of protester gather in front of the Department of Health in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, to protest over the alleged mismanagement of testing and possible falsification of reports related to the COVID-19 numbers in the island by the agency.

“Last week we held the first protest to demand that more testing needs to done and we discovered that the Health Department has been mismanaging the testing for the coronavirus, they’re counting the same person two and three times inflating their numbers…”, stated Chariana Ferrer who was one of various protesters in front of Puerto Rico’s Department Health who also said, “the government depends on the information provided from the Department of Health which one expects to be reliable to make decisions… but we have discovered that testing is been done in an erratic manner”.

The majority of the protesters remained in their vehicles to maintain social distance. This provide an opportunity for the police officers to begin issuing transit tickets to the vehicles so as to disperse the protesters from fear of getting a fine. An action that proved successful for the police as the vehicles indeed disperse essentially bringing the rally to an end.
