Dad now suspect in stabbing of 6-year-old daughter in NYC, police say

A father who told police that muggers stabbed his 6-year-old daughter on a Lower East Side street is now accused of making up the story — and of turning the knife on her himself, police sources told The Post.

The dad, Jia Pan, 55, has been charged with attempted manslaughter, reckless endangerment, assault and endangering the welfare of a minor, the sources said.

He remained in custody pending arraignment Thursday night, while his daughter remained in Bellevue Hospital recovering from surgery, the sources said.

The father had originally told police two men had accosted him and his daughter at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday near Monroe and Pike streets.

He had claimed the thieves stabbed his daughter and made off with his jewelry and a credit card before fleeing.
