The Mills at Jersey Gardens Mall Open for Business

ELIZABETH, NJ – Saturday shopping and the lively spirits surrounded the corridors and many opened stores in this New Jersey mega shopping center. The Mills at Jersey Gardens Mall reopened its doors this past Monday for the first time since it close in March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is yet another major step forward for New Jersey and in essence the country that shows there is life after COVID-19 for businesses that were among the hardest hit. There were many lines, and one of the largest was those waiting their turn to go into the Nike store.

“The health, safety and well-being of the community we serve will always be our highest priority, and we have developed a thorough and detailed set of protocols highlighting the exceptional measures we’ve implemented for shoppers, retailers and employees as we reopen,” said Denise Cusick, General Manager at The Mills at Jersey Gardens.

The Health & Safety protocols include taking temperatures at mall entrances, and providing masks and sanitizing wipes. The full list of safety precautions being taken are available on the mall’s website.

In accordance with the Governor’s guidelines for mall reopening all stores will have to remain at 50% capacity and employees must be given break time for hand washing and sanitization.

“We also recognize that individuals and families in our community are suffering significant hardship as a result of both COVID-19 and the economic shutdown, and we believe that reopening our property will not only help people get back to work during these challenging times, but also enable us to use our property to further support charitable initiatives,” said Cusick.

Shoppers are taken their temperature by a security guard at the entrance of the mall and they walked around wearing face masks. Patrons were observed been respectful and conscious of health requirements which is a major element in making the reopening a success.

Part of their commitment to support charitable causes Jersey Gardens announced that they would be joining a national initiative to host food banks, clothing and blood drives, and mobile COVID-19 testing.
