Starbucks Is Giving Away Free Coffees To Front-Line Responders This Month

Amid recent spikes in Covid cases across the nation, the coffee giant is showing its appreciation for those helping to keep our communities safe.

Starbucks announced yesterday that it will be offering coffees free of charge to anyone who identifies as a front-line responder, as a simple token of gratitude for their selfless support during this difficult year.

That includes front-line health care providers and first responders all across the board, from doctors, pharmacists, and paramedics to medical researchers, law enforcement officers, and hospital staff such as janitors/housekeeping/security. See the full list of those eligible here.

The offer is for a free tall brewed coffee (iced or hot), which can be redeemed at Starbucks U.S. company-operated locations and select licensed stores. It will be valid the entire month, through December 31. The company says that it wants to recognize and simply show appreciation for the front-line responder and health care communities for their continued support.

“We want to show our deep gratitude for those who support and protect us every day with a small gesture of kindness and a cup of coffee,” said Virginia Tenpenny, Starbucks vice president, Global Social Impact.

In addition to its December offer, Starbucks has also donated $100,000 to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in support of virtual mental health resources for front-line responders. Throughout the holiday season, the company says it also plans to surprise 50,000 front-line responders with care packages and Starbucks gift cards to continue spreading the love.
