According to a recently released study by LawnStarter, New York not only made it on the list of best U.S. cities for pizza addicts…but placed at number 1! With Americans consuming around 3 billion pizzas per year, it’s safe to say that pizza is a pretty big deal in the United States. Whether you like it with pepperoni, pineapple, or simply just cheese, it’s a meal most cannot deny.
The study was conducted using metrics including: the amount of pizzerias in each city per 100,000 residents, the average cost of a pizza, search interest for “Pizza Delivery,” Instagram popularity of pizza businesses, and search interest for “Pizza Delivery” compared to “Food Delivery” across 100 of America’s largest cities.
New York City was recorded to have the most Instagram posts of pizza than anywhere else in the United States. And with thousands of pizzerias to try and choose from, it makes sense!
Between our bagels and pizza, New York City has some serious pride in its delicious food prepared to perfection. Chewy and thin—perfect for folding—New York-style pizza is truly unbeatable. This recent study only further validates New Yorkers and their affair with such cheesy goodness, proving that New York-style pizza deserves all of its hype.
With February 9th marking National Pizza Day, it’s only fitting to take advantage of living in the number one ranked city for pizza addicts. Though some might argue Chicago (New York’s runner-up) should have us beat, they didn’t even come close! New York placed first with a whopping 6 points more!
