$315M Powerball jackpot: Winning ticket drawn in N.J.

Another winning lottery ticket has been sold in New Jersey this year.

Saturday’s $315 million Powerball drawing yielded one lucky winner and that ticket was sold in the state, Powerball said on its website Sunday.

The winning numbers for the May 19 drawing were: 03-06-09-17-56 and a Powerball of 25. The Powerplay was 3x.

Lottery officials did not immediately respond to additional questions about where the winning ticket was sold.

Aside from the grand prize winner, five tickets sold in Florida, Minnesota, New York and Texas won a $1 million prize for matching all five numbers.

The Powerball jackpot has been climbing since someone bought the winning ticket for the $456.7 million drawing on March 17 at a Manheim, Pennsylvania gas station. Emerald Legacy Trust claimed the cash prize of $273,959,698 and the winner(s) received $200 million after state and federal taxes were deducted.

A Powerball ticket costs $2. The odds of hitting the jackpot are 292,201,338 to 1. Players have roughly a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to win the second prize of at least $1 million.

Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In March, a Vernon man won a $533 million Mega Millions jackpot. Richard Wahl took the cash option and received about $220.7 million after state and federal taxes were deduced.

The next Powerball drawing is May 23 for an estimated jackpot of $40 million.
