The DCEU is something very strange, you never know if the project will continue or if it will be canceled overnight. Each of his films is always involved in a sea of comings, comebacks and anticipated criticism; the magnifying glass of the fandom is focused on finding defects to the DCEU and, being sincere, Warner makes little effort to change this.
Still, the DCEU has managed to give us some wonderful films and performances, no one can deny that Ben Affleck’s Batman is supreme, as well as that Wonder Woman and Aquaman are two excellent films, or at least for the parameters of a superhero movie. Of course, nobody wantsAquaman to be the next Forrest Gump.
As a consequence of the aforementioned problems, the new films (like Aquaman and apparentlyShazam ) seem to have less and less direct connection to the central narrative of the DCEU and function more as solo projects. However, underlyingly, it seems that there is still a long-term plan and the post- credit scene of Aquamanproves it.
The easter egg of the Aquaman post-credits scene
This scene shows Black Manta being rescued by a ship where he traveled none other than Dr. Stephen Shin , the conspiracy theorist who appears in some moments of the film exposing his theory that Atlantis really exists. As much as it seems very strange, this scene poses a connection with an eventual adaptation of Flashpoint.
As explained by Neil Daly , organizer of Aquaman’s testing audiences, this particular cut was put in the film specifically to give continuity with Flashpoint , although nowadays, it is not even known if theFlash movie is really going to be an adaptation of said history. Moreover, it is not even sure that the Flash movie will be filmed.
Anyway, it’s a nice easter-egg.
