Greta Thunberg, the Swedish student who inspired a global movement to fight climate change, was named “Person of the Year” by Time magazine.
Thunberg, 16, is the youngest person ever chosen by the magazine since the tradition began in 1927.
In August of last year, the young Swedish woman began to miss school every Friday to protest the absence of actions to combat climate change and soon millions of young people and teenagers around the world began to organize their own school strikes.

“She became the biggest voice on the biggest problem facing the planet this year, coming from nowhere to lead a worldwide movement,” Time editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal said in his appointment.
The cover of the magazine that proclaims her person of the year 2019 carries a photo of Greta with the title “The power of youth”.
